I am at a client. The client is running SQL 2000 Ent on Windows 2003. The in-house engineer tells me that there is an undocumented switch that allows tempdb to run across multiple disks.
I myself have never heard of this.
The only undocumented issue that came across my desk "Years...." ago was an issue with maxdop being set to 0 when an application that is causing high cxpacket waits "parallelism". Not a switch to run tempdb across multiple disks.
I know that you can create filegroups across multiple disks which we do now but a switch?????
Any words from those that have suffered these types of conundrums at clients would be appreciated. :0)
A SQL Server MVP or MSFT Eng should be replying soon as well. Hope this helps. Frank Garcia *** Please select "Vote As Helpful" if the information provided was helpful to you.
