Hi
SQL Server doesn't connect if port number is not given in the connection string. This happened all of a sudden and earlier the application connections were given without the port number. Earlier they used ServerName/InstanceName to connect. This is a SQL 2008 R2 named instance. There's only one instance on the server. When the issue was reported there is a message on event viewer indicating SQL Browser was not processing a request. Nothing change on DB end. SQL Browser is running fine and no indication of it being stopped earlier.
